New here and could really do with some advice
So I need some help understanding the lifestyle in Germany. I relocated to Baden-Württemberg and I would like to know how to participate in the lifestyle in Germany , I have always found German culture and openness towards sexuality fascinating and as a black man who is still learning the German language, I would admit I still have some difficulties understanding the society and I feel like having the chance to learn from people here could really help me understand German sexual culture and broaden my circle on the people and where to meet them. Hope to get some response here. Thanks

I’m here three years and have had a huge growth in my connection to the community through the poly community.

You don’t have to be poly to go to a Munch, and that’s a wonderful place to meet people who will talk openly about sex culture and subculture.

Look for upcoming Munches here in JC, or search on FetLife.

It will take time but you will learn slowly

Good luck!

...I can imagine that it is not easy for a foreigner in Baden-Württemberg to make contact with the locals.
Even we Germans from other parts of the country sometimes find that difficult. Social contacts are best made in a professional environment. But even that can take time. The best thing to do is to try to make contact with “immigrants” from the Rhineland or Bavaria. They are usually more open to strangers... *g*

Hm...Thank you for your honest statement and showing us vulnerability here. This is hard but there is no particular advise I can give you... As a foreigner myself, it took me long time to get accustomed and adapt to the society, when I moved countries- not only one, but twice!
Once you come across the right community, find the right people and feel comfortable, you will understand the culture and behaviour about sex naturally and quite quickly. We are all sam people, in the end!
best of luck on your journey and I am sure JOYclub can be of great use to find like minded people of interest in groups, forums and events!

Hi

ever heard of the coconuts and peaches theory?

Germans (Swabians even more - I'm a Swabian) are the coconuts. Difficult to get to the core- but if you breached the shell, you really get to know the person an may even find a friend.

Americans are IMO peaches. Very open at the beginning, getting along well, calling you a friend- but you'll almost never get through to the stone.

If a German says "Stop by my home for a coffee in the neighborhood" they really mean it.

As already recommended, go to munches and other events that you find at Joyclub. It's really a good way to learn to know likeminded Germans
