Run down of The Rocket Project party:

  • Dresscode: It’s all about the outfits! Each party has a new theme and the outfits are a crucial part of The Rocket Project ethos. So whether you want to go all out and create an incredible costume or you’re more of a low-key token gesture kinda person, make sure to put in effort. Get creative and have fun dressing up, making matching outfits and being extra bold - that’s what The Rocket Project is all about.

  • Timings: Each party is a 12 hour event so arrive early for a more low-key, chilled out affair. The first couple of hours are a great chance to meet new people, mingle and chat to the sound of downtempo music. As the day continues, expect the dance floor to get busy with deep house on the decks and guest performances to begin. As day turns to night, the sexy vibes build, layers come off and The Rocket Project pops off with a soundtrack of afro, tribal and techno.

  • The Rocket Project Community: People from different worlds join together at The Rocket Project. Whether you’re a gym bunny with a love for personal fitness, a sexy human with a joy for getting creative, or a person with a passion for play parties and swinging, this community welcomes you in with open arms. Remember that The Rocket Project is not a sex party. However, there is a very sexy vibe throughout so this is your chance to dip your toes into the kinky-ish creative bubble of partying.

What is The Rocket Project all about?

Bobby Rocket has curated a party like none other. With a focus on bringing sexy people together with a shared joy for dressing up, The Rocket Project is providing the perfect excuse to step into your most creative self expression and wear your imagination on your sleeve.

Bobby tells us how his first stepping stone to creating The Rocket Project was after hosting a birthday party for 300 people at the Gherkin themed ‘Space’. Built off the back of his own joy of dressing up (think Burning Man meets Torture Gardens) and the success of his birthday celebration, Bobby saw a gap in the party scene for bringing together the cross-section of his own friendship circles. Describing these as a combination of fitness friends, sexy party animals and kinky playmates, Bobby describes it as picking “all the best bits and squidging them together…to build a mix of hot, fun, creative, outgoing and welcoming people. And it worked”. What launched was a party space for like-minded people to be in one room forming a community under the guidance of Bobby’s intentions.

No one's hiding behind their bottles, their tables or their labels. We’re all dressed up, all here for the right reasons

As someone who has been on the play scene for fifteen years, Bobby explains how The Rocket Project “is not a play party. But it is quite a sexual party”. Explaining this further, Bobby reassures people that bringing in this element of kinkyness is what makes the party so nice. “Because a lot of people are on the fence about it. But if you have been to play events, you’ll know that everyone is so lovely and so welcoming”. As a result, the community is one where “No one's hiding behind their bottles, their tables or their labels. We’re all dressed up, all here for the right reasons”. This ethos has helped the organic growth of The Rocket Project via word of mouth. And boy has news been spreading fast. The last party saw 500 people swept into The Rocket Project's party, themed Avant Garde with instructions to come wearing a monochrome outfit - in one specific colour. The result was a rainbow of classy, kink inspired costumes. Previous event themes have included Oceanic, Dark Disney Dungeon, Bohemian, and the latest news of Bobby’s Ark - a take on Noah’s Ark, encouraging the community to pick an animal and join with their herd.

Bobby tells us how the outfits are a crucial element to helping break the ice between new faces and becoming a mutual topic of conversation. This is all part of Bobby’s plan and one of the reasons why the theme for each event is such an essential part of the occasion. Telling us how “I pick a theme where people can go crazy but that’s also accessible for people who maybe want to make a token gesture”. Despite the decision to make the dress code non-compulsory, Bobby tells us how “I’m really encouraging people to be creative…There’s nothing better than someone complimenting you on your outfit and telling them you made it and put it together”. Bobby knows this from first hand experience having crafted incredible outfits which, despite taking a lengthy time to create, are often deeply therapeutic “I just get in the zone and I love it”. Whether its a handmade four headed, five meter snake which Bobby wore wrapped around his body, a futuristic shoulder harnesses crafted from hand made cardboard spikes “that was a love affair, that took months and months”, or a fluff adorned, candle lit crown with a matching sceptre, Bobby’s innovative artistry continues to impress.

A lot of people have some creativity in them and without that outlet, they never get to reach their true potential

The feedback Bobby has got from people reflects the essential purpose of The Rocket Project; to provide people with a supported and encouraging space to be themself, however that may look. “People message me all the time saying how they’ve come to The Rocket Project and made amazing new friends, how they’ve finally found a place where they’re confident enough to dress up how they want, to be who they want to be”. This echoes the atmosphere of The Rocket Project’s parties where people are welcoming and playful in equal parts, adorned with sparkle and displaying sexyness in all its many forms.

Bobby’s suggestion to newbies attending his party is to come early and enjoy the more downtempo music providing space and time to chat with fellow attendees. From there the event builds, with the music becoming faster and the dance floor getting busier. Performers pop up throughout the night giving people the opportunity to see highly skilled acts from aerial to fire work to dance and more. What happens after this very sexy event, Bobby says, is up to. But having built whatsapp groups for members (and a separate group for people attending solo), plus The Rocket Project’s JOYclub profile page, people are able to stay connected and up-to-date on future parties.

What ripples from head to toe of The Rocket Project is the space to be your most colourful, creative, and decadent self, in the reassuring company of people who, Bobby tells us, will make you feel “encouraged and supported rather than judged for it”. So if this sounds like your kind of party, where you get to sparkle, shape shift and shine in your creative sexy spirit, then check out The Rocket Project.
